What actually happens during a rebrand - Part 1
One of the first questions people ask me is, “What actually happens during a rebrand?”
It’s a fair question because most people only ever see the finished result. They see a new logo, a new website or a fresh set of colours and assume that’s what the process is all about.
In reality, that’s only the final chapter.
The biggest misconception about branding is that it starts with design. It doesn’t. It starts with understanding.
If you’re worried that you haven’t quite worked everything out about your business yet, you might actually be in the perfect place to begin. A good rebranding process isn’t about arriving with all the answers. It’s about finding them.
At Valhalla, every project starts with discovery. We talk about your business, your customers, your ambitions, the challenges you’ve overcome and where you’re heading next. We dig into what makes you different and, just as importantly, why anyone should care.
Only when we’ve uncovered that clarity do we move into the creative stage. That’s when colours, typography, imagery and ideas start to come together in a way that genuinely reflects your business rather than simply making it look different.
Finally, everything is refined into a toolkit that allows your business to show up consistently wherever people encounter you.
It’s a logical process, not a mysterious one.
By the end, you don’t just have a new brand. You have a much clearer understanding of your own business and a far better way of communicating it to everyone else.
This blog is the first of a five part series on the branding process and was taken from the Valhalla Branding email newsletter Fjord Focus.
